History of the College
Kumarganj College
The establishment of Kumarganj College was the result of the collective efforts and aspirations of the local people of Kumarganj and nearby villages. Prior to the establishment of the college, students had to travel long distances to pursue undergraduate education. Recognizing the urgent need for higher education facilities in this remote region, a meeting was convened by the District Magistrate of Dakshin Dinajpur in July 2012 to
form an organizing committee for the college. Following this initiative, a memorandum of association was registered in December 2012 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act. After years of planning and community support, the college officially started its academic journey on 5 May 2016. In its initial year, the college started with 37 students and seven guest lecturers offering general courses in the arts stream. Over time, the institution expanded its academic programmes and introduced honours courses in several subjects.
